Small Groups

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Proverbs 27:17

Small Groups were the most influential instructional unit in Methodism and probably Wesley’s greatest contribution to spiritual growth. Small Groups get so much credit because they radically transformed England’s working masses. The success centered on the instructional design of behavioral change.
Classes were intimate gatherings of 10 or 12 people who met weekly for personal supervision of their spiritual growth. Rules for the United Societies were the primary framework for the class meetings. Rules specified the basic process of ‘inquiry’ as to the subject matter of ‘how their souls prospered.’
Class meetings were coeducational experiences that included women in leadership. Included in the sessions were those of diverse age, social standing, and spiritual readiness. Wesley wanted the classes to represent a cross section of Methodism. Also, the classes provided a place for believers to accept people from various social backgrounds. This helped break up the rigid class standards of 18th century England.

Rebekah Circle
The Rebekah Circle was established as one of several women's Circles at Marshallton.    Our Rebekah Circle, like the other Circles,  support the activities of United Women in Faith,  but as the years have passed,  we have also become a significant support for each of our members.  We share our concerns and our joys, and pray together and for each other.
We are currently the only Circle who meets in the evening to accommodate those in the workforce.
We meet monthly on a Tuesday, either at someone's home or at the church.   Our dates flex some, and the specific Tuesday is announced at each meeting for the upcoming month.
We happily welcome anyone who wants to join with us as we seek to serve God in whatever way He leads.

ISH Group
We are a fun active group including all age groups from 20 ISH to 80 ISH.  Now you know where the “ISH” comes from. As we have aged as a group, the ISH group has expanded.  All are welcome.  If you love good food, being around great fun-loving Christian people, we are here.  This group has been active in this church for 30 plus years, having been started by our very own Pastor Bob.  So if you like people, great conversation, fun activities and are tired of watching TV at home… or staring at the walls – JOIN US.

TBD

Dinah Circle
This is a new circle created for young women and mothers with children looking to get a better understanding of the Word of God while interacting with other like-minded individuals.  We will be meeting in the evenings to make it easier for those who work.
